We are excited to welcome you to Moorbath Creative: brilliant residential art, craft and writing courses in an idyllic, get-away-from-it-all farmhouse in a gorgeous bit of West Dorset where the emphasis is on learning in a relaxed, supportive environment, having fun and CREATING!
Moorbath Farmhouse is owned by Ed and Connie Found. They've built their own timber-framed house nearby where they live with their young children. Connie is a magician with horses, particularly youngsters. She teaches them to have nice manners and to have confidence in the rider. She loves them and they love her. You can visit her website to find out more.
Ed is a highly-resourceful sorter-outer doer. He'll ensure everything works for us. He has been working hard to adapt the house to accommodate its new mid week term-time purpose.
Anthea Simmons is the course director. Author of three successful picture books, a published poet and artist she blends her artistic streak with the acumen acquired in a previous life as director/ senior asset manager, experience as a teacher and work in diversity and inclusion.
All three share the same values and vision: to tread lightly upon the earth, to do and make good things and to help creativity, wherever it is found in whatever form, to flourish. Oh, and for visitors to have a really good time and to feel relaxed but energised. Simple!
Anthea Simmons, Course Director, explains:
‘My breakthrough in writing and painting came through intensive, immersive residential courses so I am a passionate believer in their effectiveness. It is so fantastic to be able to give yourself the time to write or paint, to think, to look and to see without the pressures and distractions of everyday life. Tuition from an inspirational practitioner really pushed me out of my comfort zone… and out of my bad habits, too, but it was always constructive, supportive. It’s also really enlightening to share this experience with others and to learn from them. Living together, with space to be private, really builds a sense of camaraderie and I’ve made some lifelong friends as a consequence. I want to recreate that fantastic atmosphere in this wonderful location and Moorbath Farmhouse owners’ Connie and Ed share that vision and the values behind it. West Dorset and East Devon are home to many lovely, energetic, passionate artists and writers who enjoy developing talent and building people’s confidence. Moorbath Creative is for anyone who wants to get in touch with their creative side or to push themselves in their existing practice. It’s about fun, community and personal development… oh, and there’s an indoor heated swimming pool AND horses! What’s not to like?’
